Why this work matters

What well-installed doors do for a home

Interior doors are touched dozens of times a day. When they’re hung right, they disappear into the trim line. When they’re not, you live with the friction — every season, every day.

Precision interior door hinge installation Toronto
01

Doors that work like they should

You know the kind — the one you have to slam to latch. The one that scrapes the floor every July. The one with the wobbly handle you keep meaning to fix. Properly installed doors don't do any of that. They open with a fingertip, close with a soft click, and keep working that way for decades.

  • Closes properly on the first try, every time
  • No dragging or scraping through humid summers or dry winters
  • Handles and hinges stay tight, don't work loose
  • Same feel in ten years as the day we hang them
Cohesive trim package interior doors casing Toronto
02

Doors that match the rest of your home

Ever been in a house where the doors are fine on their own, but the trim around them doesn't match the baseboards? Or the woodwork upstairs is a different style than down? That happens when different contractors do different jobs over the years. We install the whole trim package together — doors, the trim around them, baseboards, the works — so the home reads as one finished space.

  • Doors and the trim around them installed together
  • Baseboards meet the door cleanly, no gaps or patches
  • Same trim style throughout the whole home
  • Crown moulding and wainscoting by the same team

Why hire us

Why hire finish carpenters for your doors

Most contractors install doors. We finish them — frame, hinge, latch, casing, baseboard — with the precision of furniture work and 20+ years of practice across Toronto, Vaughan, Markham, and the GTA.

Interior door installation finish carpentry Toronto
01

Finish carpentry, not assembly

20+ years installing interior doors as finish carpentry — every reveal plumb to laser, every hinge mortise machined on jig, every casing scribed to wall. Family-owned since 2004. The kind of careful work that doesn't need callbacks six months later when seasons change.

Premium interior door hardware sourcing Toronto GTA
02

Trusted Toronto supplier network

Premium doors and hardware sourced through trade partners — not big-box stock. MDF, solid wood, hollow core, panelled, shaker, flush, French — we deliver the right material for your spec and recommend the appropriate hardware tier (ball-bearing, concealed, or European cassette) when you ask.

Hinge machining precision work Toronto
03

10-year workmanship warranty

Real warranty on alignment, hardware function, and frame fit — covered for ten years. The catch: doors must be sealed on all six sides (face, back, top, bottom, both edges). Unsealed doors absorb humidity and warp; we walk through the painter handoff during the estimate visit so your warranty stays clean.

On-site door opening assessment Toronto retrofit
04

Honest about retrofit limits

Hollow-core to solid-door upgrade? You probably need new jambs — builder-grade frames sag under solid-door weight and the door starts dragging within months. We assess the jamb structure on the estimate visit and tell you what's reusable and what isn't. No surprise change-orders mid-install.

How we work

Our 4-step door installation process

From your first estimate visit through final cleanup — every door, every opening, every step planned and executed by the same team. No subs, no learning curve, no surprises.

01
On-site measure & plan
We verify opening size, plumb, and floor transitions before any material is ordered. Door swing direction, hardware style (privacy vs. passage), and trim profiles are decided with you on site — no surprise mistakes when the doors arrive.
02
Machine jambs & doors
Jambs and slabs are precision-machined on site using professional jigs — latch and strike pockets drilled to exact tolerances, hinges sized to match door weight class, every component prepared before installation.
03
Install, square & secure
Frame set level with laser. Slab hung, reveals checked at three points, hardware aligned for smooth operation. Pocket and sliding systems get reinforced framing built specifically for the load, not retrofit shortcuts.
04
Finish & cleanup
Nail holes filled, caulk run on every edge, surfaces sanded smooth and primed white. Site cleaned — dust vacuumed, drop cloths folded, debris removed. Your doors are paint-ready for your finisher (recommendations available on request).

Premium hardware

When the project calls for invisible

TECTUS concealed hinge Toronto
01

TECTUS concealed hinges

For flush doors and minimalist custom builds. We own the manufacturer’s jig — most contractors learn on your doors. Standard installs are fine with $10 ball-bearings; concealed pairs run $340. We’ll tell you straight when they’re worth the spend.

European cassette mortise lock and Verum hardware Toronto
02

European cassette locks & Verum hardware

Cassette mortise locks need millimeter-precision pockets. We own a Virutex mortiser ($2K of European-engineered machinery) — not a $30 jig from the hardware store. Silent operation, factory fit, every time.

"I will never find a better contractor to do crown moulding than Expert. Arnie and another gentleman came to do my kitchen back in 2019 — from the time the bell rang till they left I timed them: only one hour and twenty minutes to do the entire work, from covering the floor to sizing, cutting, installing, and caulking. I was amazed how they were able to hide the joints. Recommended them to my sister the same year and she was super happy."

FAQs

Interior door installation FAQs

Service scope

Do you install new door frames and jambs?+
Yes. We build and install custom door jambs for new openings or full replacements. Each frame is measured and cut to fit, plumb to laser, sized to match your door’s weight and design. Builder-grade jambs get swapped when the upgrade calls for it (e.g., hollow-core to solid).
Can you replace old interior doors without damaging my trim?+
Yes. Replacing the door slab on its own doesn't disturb your existing casing — we remove the old slab and hardware and hang the new one while leaving the trim in place. If you do want new trim, we'll match your existing profile or suggest options that update the look.
What types of interior doors do you install?+
All styles — shaker, panelled, flush, French, solid wood, hollow core, MDF, solid core, glass-insert, pocket, bypass, and barn-style. We don’t install cheap MDF closet-track doors or rustic heavy-wood barn slabs; we hang real interior doors on quality track systems instead.
Do you offer door trim and casing installation too?+
Yes — full trim packages including casings, baseboards, crown moulding, and wainscoting. Door installs blend seamlessly with the rest of your interior finish carpentry when we do the whole package.
Can you match my existing doors and trims?+
Most of the time, yes — we can source or closely match existing door styles, trim profiles, and finishes through our supplier network. Older doors are sometimes impossible to match exactly, in which case we get as close as we can so the new work blends in. We'll tell you honestly at the estimate what's matchable and what isn't.
Do you install pocket doors and sliding door systems?+
Yes — full demo-to-paint pocket door service (framing, drywall, finish, hardware, trim) for new builds and retrofits. Bypass and barn-style systems use real interior doors on quality tracks with soft-close hardware, not closet-kit assemblies.
Do you handle condo or apartment installations?+
Yes, for midtown and suburb condos — we do full multi-door packages of standard interior doors. We don't service downtown core highrises or single-door repair calls; those are handyman work, and we focus on full-scope projects.
Can you install doors in newly finished basements or additions?+
Yes — we frame, hang, and trim all doors in basement finishes, additions, and remodels to match the rest of your home.

Process & timing

Do you work with both homeowners and contractors?+
Yes — homeowners, interior designers, builders, and renovation contractors across the GTA. Our work integrates with your project schedule and finish carpentry plan.
How long does it take to install a new door?+
A single door slab swap is a 1-day job. A full opening with new jamb + casing is also typically 1 day. A whole-house package (around 20 doors with new jambs, casing, and baseboards) runs about 4 days for door work plus 1 day for baseboards. Custom doors, pocket systems, or concealed hardware can add time for precision machining.
When in my reno timeline should doors get installed?+
After drywall is up and after flooring is in. That’s the standard sequence for renovations and custom builds — jambs reference finished floor and walls, so reveals are consistent and casings terminate cleanly. We do the on-site walkthrough once drywall is up.
Do you handle painting and finishing?+
We deliver the doors and trim primed white and paint-ready. The final paint is your painter's job, and if you'd like, we're happy to point you to finishers we've worked with.
Do you remove and dispose of old doors?+
Yes — we remove, transport, and dispose of old doors and hardware. If you want to keep them for reuse or donation, we’ll set them aside.
Can you install doors in non-standard or out-of-square openings?+
Yes — it’s one of our specialties. We retrofit doors into uneven or older frames using laser alignment and custom-cut jambs. Every opening gets assessed at the estimate visit so we tell you upfront whether existing jambs can stay or need replacing.
Do you supply materials or do I buy doors myself?+
Either works. We prefer to manage supply — slabs, frames, hinges, locks, trim — through our Toronto network for better pricing and the right material for the job. But if you’ve already chosen and bought doors, we’ll work with what’s on site.
Can you help choose door styles for my renovation?+
Absolutely. At the free estimate visit we walk through style options (shaker, panelled, flush, French, pocket) for your layout, ceiling height, and trim style. Door handing gets decided on site with you so there are no surprises when the slabs arrive.
Do you offer door repair or adjustment services?+
As part of larger projects, yes — if a door rubs, won’t latch, or needs hinge adjustments and it’s part of a broader install or trim job. Standalone single-door repair is handyman territory; we focus on full-scope installs.
Can you handle large projects like whole-home door replacement?+
Yes — whole-house replacement is one of our most common job types. We plan layout, materials, and install sequencing to minimize disruption and keep quality consistent across every opening.

Materials, hardware & warranty

Do you install concealed hinges like TECTUS?+
Yes — we own the manufacturer’s TECTUS jig and templates. They’re the right call for flush doors, doors-without-casing, and high-end custom builds. For traditional residential, $10 ball-bearing hinges do the same job as $340 TECTUS pairs — we’ll tell you straight when concealed are worth the spend and when they’re overkill.
What’s the advantage of using European hardware?+
European cassette mortise locks, Verum handles, and magnetic latches install with millimeter precision and operate silently. We own a Virutex mortiser specifically for cassette work — it cuts factory-grade pockets that a $30 jig from the hardware store can’t touch.
What’s the difference between MDF and solid wood doors?+
MDF is stable, smooth, and cost-effective — ideal for painted finishes and the most common residential choice. Solid wood offers natural grain, more weight, and a premium feel. We help you pick based on style, budget, and door location.
Do you install solid core doors that help reduce sound?+
Yes — we supply and install solid core doors, which are heavier and denser than hollow core and help reduce sound transmission between rooms. They're a popular choice for bedrooms, offices, and basements where a quieter, more solid-feeling door makes a difference.
Can you install modern flush doors with invisible frames?+
Yes — flush-to-wall and frameless systems using TECTUS concealed hinges and minimal trim. Popular in high-end Toronto homes and contemporary condos.
Are your door installations covered by warranty?+
Yes — every install carries a 10-year workmanship warranty covering alignment, hardware function, and frame fit. The catch: doors must be sealed on all six sides (face, back, top, bottom, both edges). Unsealed doors absorb humidity and warp; we walk through the painter handoff at the estimate so your warranty stays clean.
Do you provide free estimates?+
Yes — free quotes and on-site assessments. We measure every opening, check existing jamb condition, and walk through your design choices before sending a detailed estimate.
Which areas do you serve?+
Toronto, Etobicoke, Scarborough, Vaughan, Woodbridge, Markham, Richmond Hill, Aurora, Newmarket, Bradford, Pickering, Ajax, Oakville, Milton, and most of the GTA. We don’t service downtown core highrises (building rules + parking logistics) or single-door condo repairs.
How can I get started?+
Call (647) 296-0488, message us on WhatsApp, or use the contact form. We’ll schedule a free on-site visit to measure, discuss materials, and provide a detailed estimate — no pressure.
